Beti Bike Bash

FROM FIRST TIMERS TO SEASONED PROS, WE HAVE A PLACE FOR YOU.
Mountain Bike Racing is traditionally very male dominated. One of the missions of the Beti Bike Bash is to CHANGE that by providing a welcoming, encouraging, and challenging environment to open the door of possibility and get more women and junior girls on bikes and participating in events all over the country. Any person who identifies as female is welcome to sign-up.

CATEGORIES

WHICH CATEGORY SHOULD I ENTER??
Maybe this is your billionth race and you’re a seasoned vet, maybe you rode a bike without training wheels for the first time last week. Our mission is to accommodate everyone! We have a number of race categories to choose from so you can be riding with athletes of a similar level.

The best part about bikes is support and camaraderie. Please sign up for the category that you think you belong in—there’s no point in “sandbagging” just to win a race. If you have any questions about where you belong, please don’t hesitate to send us an email!

[NOTE: Your race age is your age on the day of the event.]

Never Ever

If you are a true beginner racer, new to the sport of mountain bike racing, never raced our event or any other MTB event then this is the category for you. NO race experience necessary, however we do recommend you are comfortable on twisty, loose singletrack. 8 miles may take finishers ~40 minutes to just over 1 hour. You can only race this category once, so if you’ve previously raced “Never Ever,” please upgrade to Beginner or Sport. If this is your first ever race, you are not required to race Never Ever, you absolutely can still race Beginner, Sport or Expert.

Race Distance: 8 miles

[Important: If you have never raced before, BUT you want to race the longer distance or have been mountain biking for a while, you do NOT have to race Never Ever. You are welcome in any category and distance you feel comfortable in.]

beginner

You have raced once or three times, maybe you race our event every year and know what racing 8 miles is like. This is also the place for you if you feel confident about your mountain bike skills (been riding for a few years) but this is your first time racing. May take finishers ~45 minutes to over an hour.

Race Distance: 8 miles

[JUNIOR trail rippers are more than welcome to sign up for this race!]

new mom

We know so many of you are off the bike during your pregnancy and many more months after. We still want you to participate and be a part of this special day. While we aren’t checking dates on birth certificates, if you have a little one at home under the age of 18 months, this is your category! If you’ve looked at your dusty mountain bike in your garage and wondered when you are going to get back out, this is your chance! Get on the start line with the other hard-working, sleep-deprived moms and be cheered on by your husbands, wives, other moms, grandparents, and kiddos! Same distance as the Beginner and Never Ever racers.

Race Distance: 8 miles

sport / singlespeed

Typically our most popular category. You have raced a few times, you might be on a race team. You are also at home in this category if you feel like you are rocking some fitness and want to push yourself for the longer event. You are confident that 12 miles can be ridden non-stop and enjoy a good challenge from a shorter mile race. First-time racers are still welcome in this category. Race times of ~50 minutes to 1:20.

Race Distance: 12 miles

[JUNIOR trail rippers are more than welcome to sign up for this race!]

Fat bike

You know who you are. Tire size must be >3.5”.

Race Distance: 12 miles

[If we don’t have more than 5 Fat Bike racers, we will combine Fat Bike results with Sport results.]

bitty beti

We've tweaked this event each year based on feedback from participants and parents. This is a race but the focus is on fun, not winning. Everyone who finishes will get a finisher prize. This event will have the feel of a race, including epic spectator cheering and joyous competition, but it will not be timed, nor will there be official awards. There will be 2, 3 and 4 mile options. You may decide on event day.

Race Distance: Approximately .08 miles

If your rider is new to riding/racing and is 13 and under, have her give it a go at 2 or 3 laps of the 0.8 mile course. It’s better to have her finish strong and want to come back!

Race Distance: 2-4 miles for 12 and under.

If your daughter can handle the full course 4 mile lap multiple times, then by all means have her race on the longer course.
